1. Introduction
These terms govern all services provided by Y & I Web Lab (“we”, “us”), a web design studio based in the United Kingdom. By engaging our services, commissioning a website, or making a payment, you (“the client”) agree to these terms.
2. Services
We design and build websites and simple web applications for small and boutique businesses — including but not limited to salons, studios, florists, photographers, and similar. Our typical deliverables include: the public website, an admin panel, online booking, client database, and related integrations as agreed in writing before work begins.
The scope of each project is defined in a written proposal (email or document) shared before work commences. Anything outside the agreed scope is treated as an add-on and charged separately.
3. Pricing & Payment
Our current tiers are Basic, Professional, and Premium, with prices published on our website. Quoted prices are in GBP and include VAT where applicable.
Unless otherwise agreed, we take a 50% deposit before starting the work. The remaining 50% is due on delivery, before the site is transferred or made live on the client's domain.
Monthly hosting and support fees, where applicable, are invoiced monthly in advance. Late payment (more than 14 days overdue) may result in suspension of hosting until payment is received.
4. Timelines & Revisions
Typical delivery: Basic 1 week, Professional 1–2 weeks, Premium up to 2 weeks from the start date. The start date depends on receipt of the deposit and all required content from the client (logo, text, images, brand preferences).
Each tier includes a set number of revision rounds, defined in the proposal. Additional revisions beyond the included rounds are charged per our published add-on rates.
Delays caused by late delivery of client content, delayed feedback, or scope changes will extend the timeline accordingly.
5. Ownership & Licence
On full payment, the client owns the final website content (text, images supplied by the client, final design assets for their project, and the compiled deployed site).
We retain the right to use the project in our own portfolio and marketing (screenshots, case studies, social media) unless the client requests otherwise in writing. We do not reveal confidential information about the client's business in such materials.
Any third-party components (stock images, fonts, icons) remain the property of their respective owners and are licensed under the terms of those owners.
6. Hosting & Monthly Fees
Professional and Premium tiers include an ongoing monthly fee covering hosting, SSL, routine updates, minor content tweaks, and technical support within reasonable limits. The first year of hosting is included with Basic at no extra cost.
Clients may cancel the monthly plan at any time with 30 days' written notice. On cancellation, we will assist with migrating the site to another host at a reasonable additional cost, or the client may host the site themselves. Once cancelled, we cease providing updates or support.
7. Cancellation & Refunds
The deposit is non-refundable once we have commenced design or development work. If the client cancels before work begins, we will refund the deposit in full less any transaction fees.
If the client cancels after work has begun, we will invoice for the work completed up to the point of cancellation. Any deliverables produced up to that point will be shared with the client once the invoice is settled.
We reserve the right to decline or terminate a project if the relationship becomes unworkable. In such cases we will refund any unearned portion of payments received.
8. Liability
We take reasonable care in the design, build, and hosting of every website. However, our total liability under any circumstance is limited to the amount the client has paid us in the previous 12 months.
We are not liable for losses arising from: third-party service outages (Vercel, Firebase, payment processors, email providers), domain registration or expiry issues, or errors resulting from client-submitted content.
We strongly recommend the client keep their own backup of critical content and credentials.
9. Confidentiality
Any non-public information shared during a project (business data, pricing strategy, client lists) is treated as confidential and will not be disclosed to third parties without written consent.
10. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any dispute that cannot be resolved by direct discussion will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.
